Brazil oil and gas production hit a record high in January 2020

Brazil produced a record 3.168m b/d in January, up 1.99 per cent from December and 20.43 per cent from a year earlier.The national petroleum, natural gas and biofuels agency (ANP) says pre-salt oil production accounts for a rising share of the country's total oil production.ANP also said pre-salt production was 2.682 million barrels of oil equivalent per day, or 66.37 percent of the country's total.Pre-salt oil production was 2.15 million barrels per day and natural gas production was 84.57 million cubic meters per day.
Total oil and gas production in January exceeded 4 million barrels of oil equivalent (boe/d) per day for the first time, reaching 4.041 million barrels of oil equivalent per day.Natural gas production also hit a record, reaching 139 million cubic meters a day, up 0.71 percent from the previous month and 22.58 percent from the same period last year.
Of the country's total oil production, Petrobras, the state oil company, produced 2.32m b/d from its franchises, according to the ANP report.It was down 0.93% from the previous month and up nearly 20% from the same period last year.In terms of oil and gas, petrobras produced 2.96 million barrels of oil equivalent per day, down 0.5% from the previous month and up about 19% from the same period last year.
Shell, Brazil's second-largest domestic oil producer, produced about 392,000 b/d, up 1.2 per cent on the previous month and 17 per cent on the same period last year.The campode Lula field remains Brazil's largest, producing 1.052 million barrels of oil a day and 44.096 million cubic meters of natural gas a day.
